Longest Quilt Update
Many thanks to Tina, Julie, Jean,Ida, Chris, Christine,Barbara, Betty and Suzanne who are very busy cutting, sewing and quilting for the longest quilt record. Oh and Mrs Jan Ome who is the quietest member of our team. She seems to run on no food or water and she does as she is told – usually.
We have 50 or so tops made now with 15 quilted. Guess what we will be doing over the christmas break.

These are a few of the tops that we have made. I hope you enjoy seeing them.
Happy stitching,
Jenny

We are going to make in excess of 100 quilts, joined together to form the longest quilt. When this has been done and measured for the record we will then auction the individual quilts with all the funds going to the Right Start Foundation to help with the costs of building Australia’s first Down Syndrome Specialised Centre.
If you would like to donate 6 1/2″ blocks, fabric, backings or wadding please contact Jenny at

Wet rainy Tuesday
I am having the best day – sitting in my sewing room with John, Tom & Neil keeping me company whilst I sew to my hearts content. The only thing missing is Sven to massage my back and feet.
I spent Saturday at the Canberra Quilt Show with my friend Jen. I am upset that I didnt get a phone call from the Canberra Guild to say that I had won the raffle. Oh well better luck next time I suppose.
The quilts on display were fabulous – it was so hard to choose my favourite, but I think it was Vessels lll made by Beth Miller. Once again Helen Godden created another masterpiece – this lady has talent dripping out of her toenails I am sure !!!!
Its back to my trusty Bernina for more sewing for me now.
Happy sewing, Jenny
Sewing, Sewing, Sewing
I have fionished the last of the blocks for my new BOM – just have to put it together now. Then write the pattern. I wouold much rather sew than write patterns. You would think in these modern times that some smart cookie would have developed a programme whereby you download a photo and the computer writes the pattern for you. LOL.
We have been having a ball in the machine embroidery club – we have been learning cutwork lately – much quicker than using a needle and thread – for me anyway. If you are a machine embroidery enthusiast why not join us on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
Who would have thought that you could get addicted to threads – I am going through a phase of buying variegated threads for my trusty Janome 350E. My excuse is we have to keep the economy going and I wonder if she with the most thread wins. mmmmmm
Happy stitching, Jenny
Come on Summer
I can’t wait for summer – my bones are over the cold days and nights that we have been having at the moment. I would like the frosts to disappear completely grrrrr.
Anyway, being inside gives us plenty of time to do “quilty” stuff. My time at the moment is devoted to making one of Anne Sommerlad’s designs – Martha Washington. I am making my quilt in my favourite colours – being pink and green. Thats no surprise to anyone who knows me.
I am up to the second last border – not much to go now and then I will have to concentrate on my new BOM which is nearly completed.
I went along to the fashion parade presented by Lily’s Closet last weekend. The proceeds for the day went to the Right Start supporting families touched by Downs. What a lot of fun to be had – the children modelling were a hoot.
I met some of the mums who are dealing with Downs on a day to day basis – what an inspiration they are. A big hello and hugs to Joshua and his mum Tania.Oh and the clothes from Lily’s Closet are gorgeous – just a pity that my grandsons are too big for them.
Dont forget to keep checking my website for new fabrics patterns and BOM’s. I have just received a couple of new backgroundy type fabrics in beige, pale pink and green spots. Gotta love spots – they are so useful me thinks.
On with the vacumming – then to the sewing machine.Enjoy your day and happy sewing. Jenny
Its Wednesday
Hello.
I am sitting here in my sun filled office wondering what to have for lunch – I didn’t realise while I was in the shop how much I missed the sun.
Up date on the Worlds Longest Quilt – we have 25 – 26 tops already -some of which have been quilted. We need another 75 tops.( not many).
The girls from Lilys Closet Childrens Boutique in Camden are having a fashion show on Saturday 26th June at the Civic Centre, Camden to raise funds for First Right Foundation. We will also have some of the quilt tops there to show what we have been upto. Please come along and enjoy an afternoon of great fun and maybe a glass of the bubbly stuff.
Back to lunch – maybe a cheese sandwich.
Enjoy the rest of your day, Jenny.
